Archbishop Mark Coleridge has officially opened and blessed the Sunshine Coast’s newest Catholic aged care community, St Vincent’s Care Services Maroochydore.
Archbishop Coleridge led the blessing of the 124 bed aged care facility on Thursday 2 March, and was joined by dignitaries from Mary Aikenhead Ministries and the Sisters of Charity, St Vincent’s Care Services, St Vincent’s Health Australia and Stella Maris Parish, as well as St Vincent’s Care Services residents, staff and supporters.
St Vincent’s Care Services CEO John Leahy said the official opening and blessing ceremony was an important milestone for the facility and the organisation, which opened its doors to residents on Monday 30 January.
“Not only are we celebrating the opening of our organisation’s first residential facility on the Sunshine Coast, we are also celebrating a unique and special collaboration we have with the Stella Maris Parish, and the creation of a vibrant Catholic community space.”
The state-of-the-art residential care facility shares land with the new Stella Maris Catholic Church, a community wellness centre, café with alfresco dining and welcoming garden spaces, located in the heart of Maroochydore.
