St Vincent's Care Services Welcomes Boondall and Carseldine Communities

01 June 2019

St Vincent’s Care Services is pleased to announce the transition of Holy Spirit Care Services (comprising Holy Spirit Home at Carseldine and Viridian at Boondall) to the St Vincent’s Care Services family.

From today, the aged care and retirement living communities and services will be operated by St Vincent’s Care Services, continuing a legacy of care by the Holy Spirit Missionary Sisters that spans more than 55 years.

The transition means these communities will now be known as St Vincent’s Care Services Carseldine, and St Vincent’s Care Services Boondall

St Vincent’s Care Services Chief Executive Officer Lincoln Hopper said the transition marked an exciting new chapter for St Vincent’s Care Services and the Holy Spirit Missionary Sisters.

“We at St Vincent’s feel very privileged to be continuing the work of the Sisters. The facilities they have developed at Boondall and Carseldine are true centres of care and support.

“We are honoured to continue their legacy in providing care and support services for Brisbane seniors, in the same Catholic tradition of compassion and hospitality,” Mr Hopper said.

Provincial Leader of the Holy Spirit Missionary Sisters, Sr Philomina Mathew SSpS, said the decision for the Sisters to transition the facilities to an aged care and retirement living specialist helped secure a positive future for their beloved aged care and retirement communities..

“The partnership with St Vincent’s Health Australia (through both the Sisters of Charity and Mary Aikenhead Ministries) at Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital over the last (almost) 20 years, provides us with confidence that both our health and aged care ministries are in safe and caring hands. So much so that we have also fully transitioned Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital to St Vincent’s Health Australia,” Sr Philomina said said.

Mr Hopper said St Vincent’s Care Services had undertaken extensive consultation with Holy Spirit Care Services staff, residents and families during the transition process.

“The wellbeing of residents, clients, staff and volunteers at the Boondall and Carseldine facilities has been the utmost priority during the transition period, and we are thrilled to welcome them to the St Vincent’s Care Services family,” said Mr Hopper
