St Vincent’s Care Services is the aged care division of St Vincent’s Health Australia Group and a ministry of Mary Aikenhead Ministries.
St Vincent’s Health Australia comprises an aged care division (St Vincent’s Care Services) and public and private hospital divisions. In addition, St Vincent’s Health Australia also operates three co-located research institutes and one co-located partner facility.
Mary Aikenhead Ministries was established by the Sisters of Charity of Australia to continue the various health and aged care, education, and some social service and welfare ministries.
Mary Aikenhead Ministries is the sole member and canonical steward of St Vincent’s Health Australia Limited. The Trustees of Mary Aikenhead Ministries are responsible for the governance of our organisation and are directly accountable to the Holy See, in Vatican City.
St Vincent’s Health Australia is a leading provider of health and aged care provider, operating six public hospitals, nine private hospitals and 17 aged care facilities in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. St Vincent’s Health Australia employs around 18,400 staff and operates more than 2,600 hospital beds and 1,100 residential aged care places.
Along with three co-located research institutes – the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, and St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research – St Vincent's Health Australia works in close partnership with other research bodies, universities, and health care providers.
