The vision, commitment and inspiration of our founder, Mary Aikenhead, lives on in our staff and the work we do – we bring compassion and the love of Jesus to the many who are in need of a word of hope and encouragement, a helping hand and a listening ear.
Our values are evident in the ways in which we behave, care for our residents and clients, and interact with others.
We act with mercy, hospitality and empathy, caring for members of our community in their times of need.
Mercy: We reach out to the most vulnerable in our community
Hospitality: We welcome all people to our services and facilities
Empathy: We are open to one another in times of joy and in times of need
We act with courage and fairness in our pursuit of what is right and just.
Human Dignity: We recognise the dignity and worth of every person, treating them fairly and without being judgemental
Person-Centred: We provide holistic care that meets the unique needs of each person
Respect: We treat others as we would wish to be treated ourselves
We are honest and authentic, and our actions and decisions are delivered with dignity and respect.
Honesty: We are truthful and principled, with ourselves and with others, in all we say and do
Unity: We foster teamwork and collaboration, joined in a common purpose, in a spirit of harmony
Reflective Practice: We consider our actions, behaviour and decisions in light of our mission
We strive for excellence in every aspect of our service through a commitment to quality and continuous improvement
Innovation: We embrace learning and we are open to change
Accountability: We take responsibility for our actions and exercise good stewardship of the resources entrusted to us
Safety: We create a climate of confidence and trust ensuring that we act in a manner that prevents harm.
As a Catholic health service, St Vincent’s Care Services brings God’s love to those in need through the healing ministry of Jesus. We are especially committed to people who are poor or vulnerable. We draw on the talents of our people and collaborate with others who share our vision and values to continue the pioneering spirit of Mary Aikenhead and the Sisters of Charity. We are committed to providing compassionate and innovative care, enabling hope for those we serve.
We lead through research-driven, excellent and compassionate health and aged care.
A number of programs across St Vincent’s Care Services and St Vincent’s Health Australia ensure all staff feel connected to our mission, vision and values, regardless of their role, and see these components actively employed in every aspect of our operations. Each member of staff takes part in our Inspired to Serve program, which provides them with a deeper understanding of our organisation’s heritage, ethos, mission and values. While it is our Catholic heritage and faith that drives our mission and values, we welcome staff, volunteers, residents and clients from all backgrounds and beliefs. Our staff report to us that having a deeper understanding and connection to our Mission inspires them in their daily work, regardless of their role and personal beliefs.
